LONDON OLYMPIC TORCH BEARER

Thursday, August 2nd, 2012

Yesterday I was among a group of speakers who took part in the Mayor of London 2012 Business Programme ‘Innovate Design’ organised by London & Partners, speaking about the power of London and our work to international delegates. It took place and Central St Martins. Jay Osgerby did a great talk, and an added bonus, he had one of the torches with him. We were all like small children and stood in a queue to get a photo holding the torch, I must say it was exciting! Speakers: Professor Jeremy Till/Central St Martins, Max Fraser/London Design festival, Deborah Dawton/Design Business Assocaition, Mat Hunter/Design Council, Paul Priestman/Priestmangoode,  Jay Osgerby/Barber Osgerby, Ben Tomlinson/Poke, William Knight/100% Design & me.

THESE WALLS

Sunday, February 5th, 2012

Went to the hospital today, all going well we need to be complete by end of Monday or else! I was so pleased to see the rooms transforming and how well the chairs I had chosen worked with the walls. I asked for the chairs by Very Good & Proper and Vital Arts pushed to get them for me, it make all the difference. My stools will be put together tomorrow will be good to see all the rooms complete. I am very happy indeed, I hope the children like their new dining rooms.

SITTING NEXT TO PETER, JACK AND TILLY

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

To build the Vintage festival we hired and reclaimed as much as we could. We were very lucky and a Secondary School in Bognor was emptying the whole school of all its furniture infact everything it had and we all went down and got as many things as we could that were then customised all around the site and will be used next year too.

These are the art café chairs hand-cut stencils and hand sprayed — like my ‘sitting’ series of stools for the Deptford Project — this time it is the first names of the artists whose work was showing in the art café and the names of the designers and curators involved plus a few random words.

The old school tables used in the cafe, it was incedible how much chewing gum we found stuck to the underside of the tables. We made amazing canvases of Sir Peter Blakes work thanks to Pallant House

IN ENGLAND’S GREEN AND PLEASANT LAND

Monday, July 19th, 2010

This photo was taken last Tuesday 13th July at the Vintage Site at Goodwood. I am going tomorrow to see how it has progressed. From tomorrow we only have 23 days left and everything is moving pretty quick now I am looking forward to documenting the growth of the site, ensuring though that I don’t give too much away as surprises are essential and makes life more exciting.

REMEMBERING OUR GREAT FRIEND GERRARD

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

We were over in Dublin, April 2008, and it was the opening of the Technothreads exhibition, the install had been quite hard work so we loved the fact it was finished and we could enjoy ourselves. Gerrard was in his element that night getting Nico and Luke to carry his opening night flowers, strutting along in his amazing silver suit. We were out to have a good time that night and we did! To complete the night we had a lovely meal with Gerrard’s family. (more…)

KEEPING YOUR COOL AT EXPO

Friday, April 16th, 2010

I’ve been losing my cool recently on site as time gets tighter and contractors seem more oblivious to the job in hand. Luckily Expo has wheeled out, along with benches and flowers, thousands of these fan units. (more…)

EXTREME RECYCLING

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Our giant expanded polystyrene shop letters are delivered on Thursday and we have been out on the streets looking for someone to recycle all our off-cuts (off-cuts cleverly doubled as our packaging) and eventually the shop too. This guy was the best so far but couldn’t get a business card from him as he was (more…)

HOT OFF THE PRESS: 20% OF PAVILIONS WILL NOT BE FINISHED BY MAY 1ST!

Sunday, April 11th, 2010

The scoop from the respected “City Weekend’ leads with the leak that 20% of pavilions will not be finished! Shock horror! We don’t know where this has come from but its official- everyone is late apart from us who, despite floods, dust storms, days of form filling, and unexpected sub contractors appearing through walls and ducts, will persevere and deliver by the 20th.
