MEANWHILE…

Thursday, May 30th, 2013

A packed house at the NLA Pecha Kucha night — Meanwhile… — at a great venue 06 St Chad’s place, WC1. A good atmosphere I was worried everybody had to stand for two hours but the evening went so fast, standing was not a problem. I was last on and supremely nervous but I got through and I think the my project The Movement Cafe was well received. I was very pleased to be asked by the NLA as there were  great group of presentations for Cany Ash Partner Ash Sakula, Jamie Dean Regeneration Team — Development, Enterprise and Environment Greater London Authority, Clive Dutton Executive Director for Regeneration, LB Newham, Eleanor FawcettHead of Design, LLDC, Moira Lascelles Deputy Director, The Architecture Foundation, Maria Lisogorskaya, Director Assemble, J-J Lorraine, Director, Morrow+ Lorraine Architects, Mariana Pestana Architect The Decorators, Debbie Whitfield Director NLA (Chair)

BLUE IS THE COLOUR

Saturday, May 25th, 2013

I strolled round to the Tracey Neuls shop in Redchurch street with Lemmy to see if there were any new shoes in that took my fancy. These ones popped out and I could not resist, as blue appears to be in my head at the moment.

Finalising blue combinations for the map.

I GOT THE BLUES

Friday, May 24th, 2013

All blue hues tested ready to make the final choice.

OUT OF THE BLUE

Thursday, May 23rd, 2013

I am sorting out all the making of a 7m high world map being constructed in the next month out of strips of wood. Now is the colour refining stage. Next painting and then Luke takes over and fabricates the whole thing.

DOG FACE

Tuesday, May 21st, 2013

We are getting to completion of my Ward 7 installation at the The Royal London Children’s hospital and the the young patients are pointing out faces they can see in the artworks. I love this thought especially when it was not intentional but something I might develop in another project.

LIFE IS LIKE RIDING A BICYCLE. TO KEEP YOUR BALANCE YOU MUST KEEP MOVING. ALBERT EINSTEIN

Sunday, May 19th, 2013

Yesterday was the last day of the Movement Cafe and I went to have a last look, I always knew it was a temporary structure but it had felt that the cafe had taken root and until I arrived I had no idea how I would feel about it going and I have to admit I felt very sad and did not want to say goodbye to it. But it was lovely to listened all the stories about the cafe and how people have such affection for it and how it brightens their lives and how they feel they will miss it and don’t want it to go. Here are my last photos before it is dismantled. But all is not lost, many parts of the cafe are going to be reused in different projects so it is moving on…..

GRAND FINALE — THE HIGHLINERS — AUTHENTICITY!

Saturday, May 4th, 2013

My dream came true today, I shared the stage with The Highliners, (Luke centre stage) at the ‘Authenticity’ Point Conference. Thank you to all at Point, especially Robin Richmond for trusting us to try our experiment. The Highliners (Luke, Ginger, Doyley & Andy) were brilliant!

MILTON GLASER IN HOXTON TODAY

Saturday, May 4th, 2013

Point Conference had made a great film with Milton Glaser and he talks about the Brooklyn Brewery and I had never seen it before. Then today I walk down the road with Lemmy the dog and saw this in a window of a bar. Everyday I go by I will think of Milton.
