TOWER OF TYPE

Sunday, February 26th, 2012

These are a couple of the  words going large on the school walls. I just loved how this tower of type occurred accidentally, go to more.

Hues

Sunday, February 26th, 2012

Today I am choosing the colours for the signpainted letters at Dagenham school. I specified the base colours the other day and the walls are being painted this weekend, but I need to get the colours for the letters done asap. This is tricky as too subtle it won’t be worth doing and too contrasty the words will shout too much.

A SEA OF WOOD

Saturday, February 25th, 2012

Luke and Yey have been cutting and priming all day, getting ready for the colours which I have just completed — 40 different colours!

NO GUTS NO GLORY

Saturday, February 25th, 2012

There have been some words going round in my head for a while and I wanted to express them. NO GUTS NO GLORY — I actually heard on Eastenders and I thought it was perfect. BE BRAVE — I have to be brave everyday and so it feels very close to me and how I feel.

SILLY SONG SITUATION

Saturday, February 25th, 2012

Bath students asked me to donate something to raise money for their degree show auction I made this piece for them I hope they sell it.

MAPPING COLOUR

Saturday, February 25th, 2012

I am racing against time to get these colours chosen I am nearly there not happy with a few but good light today so great day for colour matching. Pinks are so difficult, might use a spray instead of paint to get the right pink. Can’t complain a nice way to spend a Saturday morning.

EARNING MY STRIPES

Thursday, February 23rd, 2012

Today was the launch of The Grove and the first official viewing of my installation ‘Earning My Stripes’. Today was a beautiful Spring day with loads of light flooding into the building AHMM have done an amazing job and Kajima were absolutely fantastic clients. This is my absolute favourite sofa I am so pleased they went for it. A VERY HAPPY DAY today. I definitely feel I earned my stripes!

BLENDING TOGETHER

IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN

Thursday, February 16th, 2012

I have been working on a school in Dagenham for nearly a year and the install starts in a couple of weeks. So it is colour testing time again. I think the guys in Leyland think I am mad I must have had hundreds of match pots over the years, they never ask me what I am doing with them, but they must wonder or maybe not! 18 colours today.

COLOUR & COMFORT

Sunday, February 12th, 2012

I have been working over the last couple of years with Guy Noble the art curator at UCLH on the curation of the art at new UCH Macmillan Cancer Centre, building designed by Hopkins Architects. Guy has persevered and we are able to make cushions for the project which is a huge break through and so I am designing 4 cushions. I was trying the designs out on my sofa today.

A DINNER INVITATION

Saturday, February 11th, 2012

Yesterday was the last day to get the rooms ready for the Children to move in next week. I am going back next week to see how the children like the rooms and take some occupied pics.

It been over a year in the making, but now my stripes are being painted onto the fresh pure white walls, no room for error, so carefully does it!
The building The Grove re-designed by architects Allford Hall Monaghan Morris with really amazing clients Kajima. Screenprinted wallpaper arrives on Monday, very exciting.

WORK STOPPED DUE TO FREEZING CONDITIONS

Thursday, February 9th, 2012

New container graphics are going up. I wanted to paint it myself but the weather has gone so cold, so instead had it printed on blue-back by Service Graphics and they are being pasted up but work had to stop due to the wallpaper paste freezing up!  Still got the signs to produce!
