WHERE SHE SHINES (PLEASE READ OUT LOUD)

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

She was definitely shining last night, I am so pleased with the effect of my new neon piece and she was glowing like sunshine in the space. There was a good turn-out at the opening of ‘Imaginary Menagerie’ at the Text/Gallery curated by Rebecca Pohancenik.

A massive thank you to Mike at Neon Circus.

19 designers were given an open brief to explore language’s difficult, tongue-tripping, unpronounceable labyrinths typographically and in their own language. Drawing from Italian, Spanish, English, Russian and Chinese, these works take on a variety of forms: from letterpress and silkscreen prints, to light-based artworks and sculpture.

All the exhibitors: Barnbrook Design (UK) / Nod Young (China) / Polina Pakhomova (UK / Russia) / Sabine Bockting (Netherlands) / Happycentro (Italy) / Morag Myerscough (UK) / Graham Bignell (UK) / Liza Ramalho / Artur Reblo (Portugal) / Astrid Stavro (Spain) / Mat Dolphin (UK) / Company (UK) / Atelier Dreibholz (UK / Austria) / Catherine Dixon (UK) / Andreas Pohancenik (UK / Austria) / Ryan Dixon (UK) / Cartlidge Levene (UK) / Jim Sutherland (UK) / Hand & Eye Letterpress / Mary Plunkett (UK / Ireland)

Located in a new gallery just off Lambs’ Conduit Street in Bloomsbury, Imaginary Menagerie will feature new work from leading and emerging designers and studios in the UK and internationally.

Opening times:  20 October to 19 November. 20 October (late opening) 18.00-21.00pm.  21 & 22 October from 11.00-17.00 as part of the Bloomsbury Festival. Location: So Far the Future, 44 Emerald Street, London WC1N 3LH
